Tuney Tuesday—Deep in the Meadow by Jennifer Lawrence

Tuney Tuesdays is a weekly meme that JB Kantt at J.A.Y.A.! and I at ***Singing and Reading in the Rain*** host. It's really easy! Just:
  • Once a week, on Tuesday, choose a song that you might be really into that particular week.
  • Include a video/cover art for that single if there is one (or the button for Tuney Tuesdays that I've made up. I'll put it later in the post.)
  • Include the lyrics
  • Write what you like about it in a review. Or write a few sentences about how it inspires you. Or how it relates to a book that you've been reading.
  • If you don't want to do your own song, you can use one of the songs that I or JB Kantt at J.A.Y.A.! have done for this week!

In honor of the Hunger Games movie releasing soon, I'm doing a tribute to the Hunger Games soundtrack, and I'm starting with Deep in the Meadow by Jennifer Lawrence. The lyrics were actually written by Suzanne Collins herself and this video is a great adaptation I found, since I couldn't find the original. I think I'm doing a cover soon, I just have to find a karaoke version or a piano tutorial. But I'm definitely doing one, just you wait!

Song: Deep in the Meadow
Artist: Jennifer Lawrence
Record Label: ?
Rating: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5

Lyrics
Deep in the meadow, under the willow
A bed of grass, a soft green pillow
Lay down your head, and close your sleepy eyes
And when again they open, the sun will rise.

Here it's safe, here it's warm
Here the daisies guard you from every harm
Here your dreams are sweet and tomorrow brings them true
Here is the place where I love you.

Deep in the meadow, hidden far away
A cloak of leaves, a moonbeam ray
Forget your woes and let your troubles lay
And when again it's morning, they'll wash away.

Here it's safe, here it's warm
Here the daisies guard you from every harm
Here your dreams are sweet and tomorrow brings them true
Here is the place where I love you.

Badadadada...

Review
I seriously swear, I'm close to tears just listening to this right now. I love this girl's version of it and I doubt that mine will be just as great, but I still think that this is a great song. Maybe I'll just sing along to someone's cover, but I have to do one for this one because I LOVE it! I love how emotional it is and how perfect it is because Suzanne Collins wrote it herself! The lyrics are great and it just perfectly captures the feeling of when Rue dies. (For the record, the real song hasn't been released yet, but everybody sings the lyrics to the song, Kiss the Rain.)

I love this song especially because it's almost like Katniss is singing Rue to sleep, and telling her that she's going to be safe from now on, and that she doesn't have to worry anymore because she's "Deep in the Meadow." It's so deep and so great and I just can't wait for the movie because I seriously swear, when I watch this, I'm bringing a pack of tissues. I just think that this song is so great and that personal and the author herself captured the feeling of it, since it's her book.

The music's great, too, I think it's the perfect accompaniment to the lyrics and the lyrics themselves are catchy. And all the people I've seen singing this are doing great so far, too. I don't know where the original is, but I really want to see Jennifer herself singing this. I just think, once more, that this song is perfect for the moment depicted.
